Deputy Education Minister commissions UPSA’s ultra-modern hostel facility. The Deputy Minister of Education, John Ntim Fordjour, on Thursday, September 8, commissioned a newly constructed students’ hostel facility belonging to the University of Professional Studies, Accra.

In his speech, he praised the efforts of UPSA management to provide quality student facilities and amenities, especially the new hostel that he described as world class.

He was particularly impressed by the design of the building and the facilities provided to students, like the equipped gymnasium and swimming pool, so that they could be physically fit and mentally alert throughout their stay at UPSA.

The Deputy Minister of Education, John Ntim Fordjour presided over the opening ceremony for UPSA’s ultra-modern hostel facility on Thursday, September 8.

This building has been in development for a year and will provide accommodation to over 1600-bed to students.

It also includes food services, recreational facilities such as outdoor areas and basketball courts, language labs and study halls.

What makes this new facility unique

UPSA, with support from the Access Bank, has completed construction on a new hostel facility.

This facility is the newest addition to a campus that currently houses more than 11,000 students. The new hostel will help meet UPSA’s growing demand for campus accommodations and accommodate at least 1,500 additional students.
This one-stop site includes four separate facilities for girls and boys each as well as nine academic blocks.

When did construction start?

Construction of the ultra-modern hostel facility started early this year after an agreement between the Access Bank and UPSA.

An official ground breaking ceremony was held on 2021, where deputy minister of education, John Ntim Fordjour, commended the project for being one which would be instrumental in improving teaching and learning conditions for students in the university.

UPSA’s high standards of academic excellence in both science and arts has been established through consistent success over the past 10 years.

Aesthetically designed environment with built -in safety features, the ultra-modern hostel complex has facilities such as CCTV cameras, an elevator, study/reading rooms, Junior Common Rooms (JCR), a laundry area, and other auxiliary amenities.

The ultra-modern hostel facility is just one example of the many initiatives the institute pursues to provide a quality student experience.
