Former Mesut zil, the star of Real Madrid and Arsenal, has declared his retirement from professional football at the age of 34 following a string of ailments that limited his playing time, according to Peoples Gazette.
On Wednesday afternoon, Ozil made an announcement via his social media accounts that it was time to finish his 17-year, trophy-filled career, which spanned many clubs in Europe.

Dear everyone, I’m announcing my immediate retirement from professional football after careful contemplation, the statement said. I’ve had the honor of playing professional football for almost 17 years, and I’m tremendously grateful for the chance.
The German international played for Werner Bremen, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Fenerbahçe, and most recently Istanbul Başakşehir before starting his career with Bundesliga team Schalke 04 in the first place.
Over his playing career, Mesut zil won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the Germany national side in addition to La Liga, Copa del Rey, and numerous Emirates FA Cup championships with Arsenal.
He then thanked his family, friends, and everyone else who had supported him over his football career.
“I want to give a special thank you to my family and my closest friends. They have followed my journey with me from the beginning and have shown me so much love and support, both in the good times and the bad.
“I want to thank all of my supporters who have supported me so much, no matter what has happened or whose club I was representing,” they said.
