So when we design our data center what a data center looks like and what we need to do to have a house that can handle all of those networks coming into it we’re thinking about that kind of thing.
Now Let’s Get Inside
Once you’ve stepped inside of Facebook’s most advanced data center, with its centralized servers and walls that are built to protect against every major disaster (earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes included), it’s hard not to get excited about just how advanced Facebook’s approach is. As we discussed above, there are plenty of reasons for data centers to be inside of facilities on their own.
How does it look inside?
Inside Facebook’s new data center in Forest City, North Carolina—the first designed and built from scratch by Facebook are four massive server banks.
Each block houses hundreds of thousands of servers stacked on top of each other. In front of every rack is an aisle that functions as a fire lane; if there’s ever an emergency, these paths direct traffic away from servers and out of data halls.
There are also concrete barriers outside each server hall to help block blasts from bomb attacks.

Security is first and foremost at Facebook. It’s an area where security matters so much that it takes on its own four-layer cake of protection.
