GES Review The Academic Calendar For Basic School 2022-Details below
The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) as schools prepares to end the first quarter of the 2022 academic year has announced April 7, 2022, as the first-term vacation date for public basic schools across the country.
A Close Review of the GES Basic School Calendar for the Upcoming Year
The GES Basic School calendar shows that the academic year will begin on January 18th, 2022 and ends on August 11th, 2022 with the school vacation scheduled to last a Month and Ten days.
There are three in-school breaks expected as follows: January 18th to 14th (One Month ten days), April 5th to 9th May (Vacation), See the full details below.
The new academic term starts soon following the end of the Easter holiday so that pupils can benefit from ten days of learning before the break begins.
I Am Excited For This
The new academic year is just around the corner and I can’t wait to get back into my old routine. I love everything about my Basic School the cold winters, our sports teams, and even those annoying pre-recorded messages from my teachers.
It will be nice to finally start using all those notes I took over vacation break. If you are looking forward to next year at basic school, then keep reading for a closer look at what’s going on in our school calendars.
How To Get the Most Out Of This New Schedule
While there are a lot of benefits to having a longer school year, it’s important to keep in mind that students can only take so much school before their brains start to rot.
That said, I think we can maximize learning by using a couple tricks. The first is looking at our schedule and comparing it to what we did last term.
How many classes were added? What were they? Did any other schedule conflicts pop up? It’s also worth considering how social life may change throughout each month.
What Do You Think?
If there’s one thing parents have a tendency to fight with their children about, it’s homework. The biggest debate centers around how much homework should be assigned each night and whether or not it is effective at all.
Do we give too much? Not enough? Should teachers grade every assignment, no matter how trivial?
While I don’t want to sit in judgment of teachers who give tough grades to students, I also don’t want my child fighting with me over homework.
Keep In Mind While Getting Ready
If you are new to teaching in Ghana, it’s important to review both your contract and your benefits. Your school will help with acclimation, but you should be aware of how your time is set to be spent each week you may not have as much free time as you would like (especially during professional development), so knowing that ahead of time can make all the difference.
