GES sacks 8 students of Chiana SHS for insulting Akufo-Addo.
Eight students from the Chiana Senior High School in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region have been expelled by the Ghana Education Service (GES) for uttering disparaging remarks against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, however, ordered the expulsion of all eight students from the school in a letter dated November 29, 2022, following thorough investigations into the students’ behavior.
The letter reads:
The Ghana Education Service in a letter dated 29th November, 2022 which was handed to parents of the eight students on 11th January, 2023, dismissed the students from the school and asked them to return all school properties to the school to serve as a deterrent to other students.
“The Ghana Education Service has given approval for the dismissal of (Name withheld) with immediate effect to serve as a deterrent to other students. “
This is in view of her involvement in misconducting herself by making derogatory comments in a viral video that went viral, a conduct considered very undesirable, and contrary to the acceptable standards of the conduct generally required of any student in our Educational system in Ghana.
your ward is therefore requested to properly hand over any school property in her possession to the Headmistress of the school before leaving.
It is expected that your ward will use this as a major turning point in her life to bring the desired change in her behavior and attitude towards life.
We wish her all the best in her future endeavor.
Thank you.
