Graham Potter sacked by Chelsea after just six months in charge.
Following Chelsea’s 2-0 loss against Aston Villa, which caused them to drop into the bottom half of the Premier League standings, manager Graham Potter was fired.
After firing Thomas Tuchel, the manager who won the Champions League, in September, Potter was hired at Stamford Bridge.
Potter took the position after leaving Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, however in more than 30 games as manager, he only achieved 12 victories.
The Blues dropped into the bottom half of the Premier League standings after losing to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
It turned out to be the breaking point, and Boehly and the new Chelsea ownership group decided to fire him.
After the most recent defeat, Chelsea supporters once more turned against Potter. Together with booing their head coach, the Stamford Bridge faithful and the ecstatic away supporters both chanted, “You’re getting dismissed in the morning.”
Chelsea lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at home on Saturday night, dropping the Blues to 11th in the Premier League standings and 12 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
Later this month, Chelsea will play Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Potter’s departure comes as a result of Chelsea’s loss to Real Madrid.
Ben Roberts and Bjorn Hamberg, two assistant coaches, will continue to work alongside interim head coach Bruno Saltor.
