IMF Bailout: Teacher Trainee’s heartfelt plea to government not to cancel allowance

Teacher trainee and government employee, President of the Ashanti Brong and Ahafo regions (ASHBA) of TTAG, Adu Kwabena Dennis delivering his keynote has written an open letter to the federal Ghana Government begging them not to cancel their annual allowance granted to them as part of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout agreement.

A letter from a teacher trainee

I am writing to appeal to the government not to cancel our allowances. I understand that the country is in a difficult financial situation, but teacher trainees are among the lowest-paid workers in the country.

We rely on our allowances to cover our basic living expenses, and without them, many of us will be forced to drop out of our programs.

Please don’t make it harder for us to become teachers; we’re already struggling enough as it is. Thank you for your consideration.

An appeal to the minister

I am writing to appeal to the minister not to cancel our teacher trainee allowances. We are already struggling to make ends meet, and this would be a huge financial burden for us.

We understand the need for austerity measures, but cancelling our allowances would be detrimental to our ability to continue our studies.

We are the future of this country, and we need your support to ensure that we can continue to provide quality education for all. Thank you for your consideration.

An appeal to the president

I am a teacher trainee who has been deeply affected by the IMF bailout. I am appealing to the president to please not cancel our allowances.

Without this money, I cannot afford to continue my studies. I am already struggling to make ends meet. Please help us by keeping our allowances intact. Thank you.
