New Technology Trends for 2022 You Won’t Want to Miss
New Technology Trends for 2022 You Won’t Want to Miss
By 2022, some new technologies may be such staples in our lives that we won’t even think about them anymore.
Or, if we do, it will be to reminisce on how life was before they were so prevalent in our lives. In order to stay ahead of the curve and be ready to embrace the future, here are nine new technology trends you won’t want to miss by 2022.
Driverless cars
With global mobile data traffic due to hit 28.8 exabytes per month by 2019 and automotive technology booming, we’re predicted driverless cars won’t be far behind.
Several automakers, including Audi, BMW, Ford, Volvo and Tesla have already launched self-driving features that can be activated in certain conditions but it will likely be a few years before they hit public roads on masse.
Virtual Reality
With virtual reality, we will live in an all-encompassing space that blends seamlessly with our own reality.
Whether we’re using augmented reality or virtual reality to play video games, work on projects, or spend time with friends and family, it will become more and more common place in our daily lives over the next few years.
In fact, major tech companies like Facebook and Google are already betting big on VR.
Drones
As drones become increasingly affordable, we’ll see an explosion of new businesses that rely on drones. Local deliveries and services are only a small part of what is possible.
Expect to see more drones in our skies helping people find their way around and providing assistance during natural disasters.
Robotics
Robots have traditionally been used in assembly lines, where they’re doing work that’s dangerous or boring. In recent years, they’ve started moving into our homes and workplaces.
Many people are worried about job losses due to automation, but it’s not all doom and gloom: robots can help with housework and transportation, which means there will be more time available for more meaningful interactions with humans.
Wearable Tech
The wearable tech market is expected to continue its rapid expansion over at least another five years, with a projected $150 billion in revenues by 2020.
This growth will be driven by increasing adoption of smartwatches and other wearables from brands such as Apple, Samsung, Microsoft and Sony.
Wearable tech has already begun its rise to dominance as both a functional and fashion statement.
Nanotechnology
It’s in our bodies and it’s all around us, and soon it will be all around us at even smaller levels, in everything from clothing and construction materials to health care devices.
This technology includes things like smart material which can sense its environment and respond. It’s already being used in medical treatments such as sensor bandages that detect cancer cells.
Nanotechnology is another one of those exponential technologies that could literally change everything around us – and soon!
Augmented Reality
With augmented reality technology, information is projected onto your surroundings, making it possible to interact with objects and receive relevant feedback in real time.
There’s a lot of potential here, with analysts predicting that by 2025, there will be over 52 billion augmented reality devices in use globally.
Some examples of popular AR games and apps include Pokemon Go (for smartphones) and Star Chart (for Apple Watches).
3D Printing
The benefits of 3D printing are numerous, and it doesn’t look like its popularity is going to slow down anytime soon.
In fact, we have recently seen a massive increase in manufacturing jobs that utilize 3D printing technology.
It is expected that by 2020, industrial additive manufacturing (or 3D printing) will create 2.3 million new jobs around the world and produce more than $300 billion in added economic value.
Space Exploration
There are a few really exciting space exploration initiatives currently underway. The U.S.-based private aerospace company SpaceX is making progress on its Mars colonization plans, China has announced it intends to land people on the Moon by 2036, and NASA is working on a new rocket designed to get us there even faster.
