Neymar picks Vinicius over Mbappe: why the Brazilian star is choosing youth over experience.
After Vinicius Junior’s recent move to Real Madrid, many were surprised that the 18-year-old was able to leave Flamengo for Europe at such a young age.
While fans and pundits alike were impressed by his skills and potential, some doubted whether he was worth the hype.
But one man is not only convinced of Vinicius’s potential, but has been following his progress closely – Neymar Jr.
Profile of Vinicius
Vinicius arrived as part of Real Madrid’s strategic goal to sign the greatest players before they erupted,” Solari explains. “The football market has deteriorated significantly.
Now you can observe the results of the club’s plan. It took a lot of boldness, as well as a keen eye for talent.
Although Kylian Mbappé and Neymar are considered to be two of the best attackers in world football, they have very different playing styles.
The Monaco man has been dubbed the next Pele because of his attacking style, whereas Neymar has been heralded as a Brazilian Ronaldinho.
So, which player would you choose if you were on Barcelona? Here are five reasons why you should sign up Vinicius Jr…
Why did Real Madrid sign Vinicius?
Real Madrid signed a 16-year-old prospect for £39m, in what was a surprising move. Many thought Los Blancos would sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG or other stars.
However, it seems that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has signed one of Brazil’s hottest prospects who has yet to make his professional debut for Flamengo.
How much more can he improve?
Kylian Mbappé’s incredible season with Paris Saint-Germain has seen his name linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, and there’s little doubt that he would be an asset for any team in Europe.
He’s arguably been Europe’s standout player of 2018, but Neymar says that he prefers another youngster to come and play alongside him at PSG. More from Neymar on our next slide.
The future looks bright for young Vinicius
At just 18, Vinicius has already won Spanish Super Cup medal and a FIFA Club World Cup. His side of Brazil’s national team isn’t too shabby either; he’s played with some of his country’s biggest names in Gabriel Jesus, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and even Neymar.
Vinicius Jr. is the best player in the world, over Kylian Mbappe
As a result, Vinicius Jr. and Neymar’s bond may be stronger in any case.
Mbappe’s stats are better than Vini’s current season, although Vini plays in a more challenging division. He’s also had more big moments than Kylian.
Vini had the vital assist in the quarterfinal against Chelsea, in addition to game winning goals in the Champions League Final and against Sevilla in LaLiga.
They were once title contenders and champions league masters in Europe, don’t forget!.
Why not Benzema?
Benzema should be considered the best in the world, but it’s understandable that Neymar would choose one of his colleagues Vinicius Jnr.
And he could have chosen the right teammate in Vini, who is now much more likable than Kylian Mbappe.
