REPUBLIC OF GHANA MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION

Terrorist strikes, particularly in Abuja, are more likely in Nigeria. Government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping centers, hotels, bars, restaurants, sporting events, transportation hubs, law enforcement facilities, and international organizations might all be targets. Reduced services will be provided by the American Embassy until further notice.

Section of the letter reads: “TO ALL MEDIA “HOUSES” ACCRA. NOVEMBER. 2022.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to inform travelling public security developments in Abuja. Nigeria. and the Subsequent directive by authorities’ hotels operating in residential buildings to shut down.

Accordingly. the public is advised to avoid non-essential to Abuja. due to the unpredictable security situation in the city. and high danger of terrorism. criminality, inter-communal conflict. armed attacks. and kidnappings.

Whilst advising travelers who must travel bf necessity to Abuja to take precautionary measures. the Ministry will continue to monitor the Situation and provide updates to the public the situation improves”.

Actions and measures to Take: 

  • Avoid all non-essential travel or movement.
  • Stay alert.
  • Avoid crowds.
  • Review your personal security plans and keep your cell phone charged in case of emergency.
  • Carry proper identification.
