Breaking News: Akufo-Addo Sacks Gender Minister Adwoa Safo

The president has terminated the services of Gender Minister Adwoa Safo with immediate effect, according to a release from the president’s office today.

The termination follows the minister’s failure to execute some of her duties as laid out in her portfolio.

I am saddened by this news

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sacked the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Adwoa Safo, with immediate effect.

I am saddened by this news because I believe that Hon. Adwoa Safo was doing a good job in her role as Gender Minister.

She was passionate about her work and was always fighting for the rights of women and children.

This is not the first time our gender minister has been sacked

It’s been less than a year since President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed Ghana’s first female gender minister, but she has already been sacked.

The previous gender minister, was also sacked after serving for less than a year.
So what does this say about the president’s commitment to gender equality?

President Akufo-Addo Has a New Plan for Women

President Akufo-Addo has made it clear that he wants to improve the lot of women in Ghana. He has tasked the new gender minister, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah as a caretaker with coming up with a plan to make this happen.

It remains to be seen what the new minister will do, but we are hopeful that she will be able to make progress where her predecessor could not.

I am Still Sad

“In accordance with Article 81(a) of the Constitution, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome- Kwabenya, as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, with immediate effect’” a portion of the statement read.

Why Is Ghana So Bad At Promoting Women?

Just days after International Women’s Day, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo has sacked his Gender Minister, Adwoa Safo.

This move has many Ghanaians wondering what the country’s priorities are when it comes to promoting women.

What Are Some of Her Bad Accomplishments?

Adwoa Safo has been sacked as Gender Minister by President Akufo-Addo. Some of her bad accomplishments include:
1. Sarah Adwoa Safo failed to appear before the Committee to justify her absence for over fifteen sittings after many attempts by the Committee to reach her.
2. The Committee then submitted its report to the plenary after its sitting and recommended that the House declares the seat of the MP vacant.
3. She has been accused of using her position to benefit her own interests, neglecting parliament upon series of sittings.

Acknowledging Our Daughters

It is with a great sense of responsibility that I write this post. Our President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has shown us time and time again that he is a man of his word.

He promised to create an equal society for all Ghanaians, and today he took a big step towards making good on that promise.
Today, President Akufo-Addo asked for and received sack of Gender Minister Adwoa Safo.
