The government of Ghana has launched an initiative called YouStart to foster entrepreneurship in the country.

YouStart is a platform via which the government plans to offer financial assistance and technical support to young people and youth-led businesses that fit this description to help them launch, develop, and expand their own businesses.

50,000 young people and early adults who have the potential to launch a business will receive entrepreneurship training from the Agency.

There will be three entrepreneurial training levels available: fundamental, intermediate, and advanced.

In several sites across the country, the training will be based on standardized, quality-assured packages. All training will be district-based, non-residential, and given utilizing an experience participative style that is favorable to adult learning.

The start-up grants will be provided for the following:

1. Purchasing of equipment, technology, or machinery

2. Start-up investments focused on productivity and expansion

3. Working capital for things like buying supplies and consumables and paying salary

4. Payment for platform subscriptions, training, and technical consulting services

5. Compensation for regulatory compliance, including RGD, FDA registration and license fees, and GSA certification

6. New businesses looking to offer necessities that help counter dangers to public health


The following category of youth will be targeted:
  • Minimum Basic Education Certificate Examination for individuals between the ages of 18 and 40
  • Willingness to launch a business School dropouts who are currently operating a business would be taken into consideration
  • Women and people with disabilities would receive special consideration (PWD)
