What does it mean to be enlisted in the Ghana armed forces?

In order to understand what it means to be enlisted in any armed force, you should first know why they exist. Armed forces exist for national security and protection.

National security is defined as a country’s defense against foreign attacks and threats, while protection refers to a country’s military preventing domestic violence, crime and destruction of property.

A soldier can serve in one of two branches: land or air. The three main roles within a military are infantry, artillery and support units.
