Mr Ken Ofori-Atta Assures Ghanaians That The Economy Will Emerge Stronger.
The Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta has assured Ghanaians that the economy will emerge stronger following years of economic growth, despite the decline in the value of the local currency and the recent plunge in oil prices.
He made this assurance while reacting to the recent devaluation of the national currency against foreign currencies in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM.
The Government’s commitment to addressing challenges
The government of Ghana is committed to addressing the challenges facing the economy. Ghana’s inflation accelerated to 27.6% year-on-year in May from 23.6% in April, but the government is working to bring it down to single digits by the end of the year.
The budget deficit for 2021 has increased from 9.4% of GDP to 12.1% in the 2022. These are just some of the measures being taken to ensure that Ghana’s economy emerges stronger than ever before.
We are working with other Governments and Multilateral Institutions
We are committed to working with other governments and multilateral institutions to help Ghana emerge stronger from the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have already secured $1 billion in financing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and we are in talks with the World Bank for additional support.
We are also working on a number of initiatives to boost domestic revenue and reduce expenditure.
Our resilience lies in our people
Our people are our most important resource. They are the source of our strength and resilience, said H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. He was speaking at the 2022 National Economic Forum in Accra.
We Are Building A Better Future For All
We are committed to creating opportunities for all and ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to succeed. We are investing in our people and our economy so that we can build a better future for all.
We are determined to create an environment that is conducive to business and investment, and one that will create jobs and spur economic growth.
We are confident that Ghana’s economy will emerge stronger and more resilient, and that our people will prosper.
No One Can Afford To Let Ghana Fail
These are trying times for our dear nation but we must remember that we are all in this together. We must remain united and work towards a common goal of seeing Ghana emerge stronger than ever before.
