WASSCE May Be Postponed If Government Doesn’t Pay Debt to WAEC.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) will be postponed if the government refuses to pay its debt amounting to 23 million Ghana Cedis that had accumulated from 2017.

The WAEC Chairman, Prof. Ato Essuman – Chairman of Council, made this announcement in an interview with the Media in Ghana (MIG) on Friday.

He said that the council had written several letters to the Ministry of Education on the unpaid debt to no avail and had given the ministry until August 1, 2022 to settle its bills.

How did this happen?

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has threatened to postpone the start of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) if the Ghanaian government doesn’t pay its debt.

WAEC is owed about 233 million Ghana Cedis by the Ghanaian government. This debt has been accumulating for years, and WAEC has been patient in waiting for payment.

However, they can no longer wait and have given the government a deadline of August 1st, 2022 to pay the debt.

What are the consequences?

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has threatened to postpone the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) if the Ghanaian government doesn’t pay its debt.

This could have major consequences for the students who have been preparing for the exams, as well as for the Ghanaian economy.

Who can we blame?

We can blame the government for not paying their debt, which has led to the possible postponement of WASSCE.

We can also blame WAEC for not being more lenient with the debt. However, at the end of the day, it is the students who will suffer the most if WASSCE is postponed.

This is because they have already put in so much effort and are so close to finishing their exams.

What can we do about it?

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has threatened to postpone the start of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) if the Ghanaian government doesn’t pay its debt.

This is a serious issue because the WASSCE is a critical exam that students take in order to graduate from high school.
