GES, NaCCA confused over 2024 BECE compulsory and optional subjects -Kofi Asare

The GES states that applicants will be evaluated in nine subjects beginning with the 2024 BECE. These foundational courses consist of eight subjects: Social Studies, Mathematics, English language, Integrated science, Career Technology, Creative Arts Design as Mandatory Subjects and a Ghanaian language as Elective Subject. It is significant to remember that the course “French, Arabic and Computing are Optional subject” is no longer compulsory for student.

The number of subjects for the 2024 BECE has been the subject of speculations and contradictory claims, but the GES has clarified that applicants will actually write nine subjects in the next exam, dispelling earlier allegations of a different number of subjects.

In an effort to improve the examination procedure and better prepare students for the dynamic world they will enter, the GES decided to change the topic categories for the BECE in 2024.
